jake posted something the other night about a 'bubble-magus' skimmer, for about $130  if i recall correctly

or vertex

chances are your lfs wont have any of the online skimmers which is why he is pushing hte coralife

there are tons of products out there, most are ok, some are total pos

the coralife is middle of the road

i would suggest the vertex or the bubble magus

i'd save up and get a good skimmer.  it's not a necessity right off the bat, but IME/IMHO, if you get a poor skimmer, all you'll end up doing is upgrading later and probably modding it to fix a microbubble problem, so i'd just save up and do it right.

actually, i'm currently in the market for a skimmer for either a 70 gal or 115 gal system, depending on what i find/decide to do (i have a ER REEFNAZI-180 on the 70 gal system ATM, but i may not move it).  the 110 gal is gonna have a fairly heavy bioload with the 3 fish that will be housed in it, so i need a GOOD skimmer, and as you're finding out, they ain't cheap.

boring is good. actually it's great.  corals will grow much faster with the least amount of your interference, (your as in generally speaking)

btw: glad to see you post some info... it's always good to get feedback and give it when you can...

Went ahead with the coralife 125. I did cause I read ot of reviews, alot more research, and the comment on here it seems to like it will work for me. I was able to get it new for $130 shipped! So hopefully if things go well, I'll have my lights on Monday, my koralia 4 with that, and the skimmer on wdnesday which is when he will have my 30 long sump built so I should hav it up and running Thursday (cross our fingers). I got sand today, 40lbs of white life caribean, and 20 lbs mixed black and white. Once mixed together it looks awesome! So, I have a koralia 2 now, the 4 next week. Should I mix these two, or replace the 2 with another 4, or two 3s? Which is best   75 gallon to remind yO

you can mix and match...

just play around, look around and you will see wher eyou want to place and aim them to minimize 'dead spots' / areas with less flow...

and yea, you are definately on track... must be feeling like you are on cloud 9

did you want a personal forum so you can start a tank build thread???  if so, you have any particular name you want me to call it??

the 'forum; is just an 'area' in themembers section where all your threads can be placed...and found easily...

You can still post in the reef discussions area, but, if it is more about you, and your stuff and adventures, it might be best to put them in the members forums...

I will not split the thread here, but move the entire thread, (all the messages under this topic... NEW w.Pics of 29g. NEED HELP!!!)   but you might want to consider starting a new 'topic' and keeping messages related to the appropriate topic...  i.e.  upgrade from 29g  could be the build thread topic... and everything related to your new upgrade can be in that thread...

i would suggest creating a new thread...  this 'thread'/topic IS in your new area/forum... but the title of this discussion/thread/topic is New W/Pics of 29g.  NEED HELP!!!!

Not many folks would look for a new build thread in a discussion where you are asking for help...

discussions are seperated/identified by the TOPIC title...

but, no matter where you post them, i can move them whereever you want
