HELP! my firefish!
« on: November 05, 2009, 05:10:39 PM »
I recently added an orange skunk clown and a firefish to my tank.
The clown has be doing great, though a little more aggressive then i was told it would be.
My firefish however, was doing great it was active and eating but then got attacked. Its eye was scared and now its sluggish and wont eat much.
I'm concerned and would appreciate any advice on how to help it.

wow, what a drag!!!

Try to feed the firefish healthy foods... meaty, lots of protien, nori, and lots of vitamin so it can develop it's own immune system to fight whatever it may have gotten from his black eye...

they make some garlic additives you can soak the meaty bits in that make them a bit more tasty. You could also try PE mysis, they are a freshwater variety and bigger than the hikari saltwater type with a higher fatty acid and omega 3 content as well.

Your poor fish....mine had a bit of a set to with another tank buddy -yellow tailed Damsel-, and had a piece of its dorsal fin pierced.. :(..looked rather sorry for itself for a week or so, but bounced back soon after. :)
You wouldn't know He'd been damaged to see him now though, I'm sure yours will be fine too. Rather hardy things methinks.
Good luck with him,
Tania.

arrghhh,  that is not good.

next time when you add a fish, add it at night, and while acclimating it, do an aquascape to make the clown lose his home... when you are done, add the new fish, and the clown will be too busy finding and keeping his little home, and probably leave the other fish alone, at least for the night...
