My tank
« on: November 21, 2009, 07:26:44 PM »
I hope to give and get help on my aquarium. i know that what works for me may not be the best for someone else so if i answer a question know that i am answering from my own expierences and may not be fully correct. my aquarium is about 7 months old and it is a 36 gallon and has a Skilter and a regular filter. nano pump and  naturally a heater. I have included a picture.
The life in it is a longspike urchin, two feather dusters, 2 hermit crabs, 2 surface snails and one sand snail as well as 2 yellow tail blue damsels ad a six lined wrasse and anout fifteen pounds of live rock.

like what do they eat? will they bother anything? will they hurt my clown fish? mainly just worried cause i know that a lot of things can come on live rock and i have never seen an anome on one. there is also yellow and orange sponge from what info that i can find they are fine. do you agree?

YOU HAVE AIPTASIA!!!! >:( Sort it soon, they breed like rabbits. :(

Go to the forum 'Learner's Room' where everyone gave me advice on this. it was really helpful too. ;D

I have had a nightmare with them. I started by giving them a paste of Kalkwasser, didn't do much,  I couldn't source Peppermint Shrimp in my area, which a lot of people use to control them, and didn't want to put any unnatural stuff in, such as a product called Aiptasia-X, which is reef safe, but apparently not too helpful in preventing a large outbreak. :-\

I finally went with Berghia Nudibranches; rather expensive - especially here in the UK -as they only eat  aiptasia/glass anemone. They have been in the tank for a few days now, and I am waiting for the 'feeding frenzy' to start.

Don't try to just take them out of the tank, they will multiply when threatened!!!
I currently have about 20 or so!!!

I'll try to take a pic or two of mine; won't be the best, but I'll see what I can come up with.

They are 'frondy', clear to pinkish in colour, and sometimes have white stripes on their frondy bits.!!!
Not the best description eh? sorry  :-[
