Dream tank idea
« on: December 13, 2009, 11:50:32 AM »
Hi,
I literally had a dream about a reef tank last night, and it was PERFECT. I'm not going to be able to do this for a while, but I want to know if it could work or if it was just me dreaming.

Set up:
75 Gal. tank LOADED with live rock and fine sand,
30 gal. refugium with a calcium reactor, and protein skimmer and that stupid little light I have on my 10 gal,
It also had 2 big powerheads set to a wave maker thingy.

Lighting:
2 150 watt metal halides they had 2 T5 tubes on each side, 50/50 actinic/ daylight.

Livestock:
1 Niger Trigger,
about 6 acropora colonies and a lot of acropora frags in various colors,
2 birdsnest corals,
Way too many zoanthids to even think about counting,
And some other corals that probably don't exist.

It had a pretty standard cleaning crew of crabs, snails etc.

Is it remotely possible that something like that could EVER happen?

that's how you got past my "BB is just missing something" RADAR...your tank did indeed have a nice "bed o' zoas" look to it.

Yeah, I assumed it had sand until I looked at it closely. Las vegas carpet indeed.
There is something fishy going on here...

actually, it happened kind of fast... im guessing one year... to cover about 4 sf...

I had a bunch of frags that i strategically placed all over, and they just grew out from there starting spots...

I did have a couple bare spots, but, that was somewhat intentional.. i would drop frag plugs/rocks onto the 'carpet' and let hte zoas grow onto them then peel them off after a month.. and then would give those starter frags to others...
