Spot on Clown!!!
« on: December 28, 2009, 11:14:22 AM »
Hello all,

One finger wonder here, :(

Just noticed a whitish/grey small lump, that appears to be 'on' the skin, rather than 'in' the skin on the side of my female clown;
if that makes any sense.!!

Don't know if the damsel has anything to do with it, but it seems to be harassing the clown at the moment, so maybe an injury?

I think Amy had something like it with one, a month or two ago; I've trawled the site, but couldn't find the post.

I'll try to get a pic' but finding it a little difficult at the moment due to the cast on my wrist.!!

Note to self: Get a tripod. ;D

All suggestions gratefully received,
Thanks,
Tania.

get a tripod that can be used with one finger!!!???

yea, we werent totally sure of what amy's white spot was, although it seemed to fallinto the category of a parasite...

Although i didnt totally believe that, i am thinking it was just a damaged cell/flake...

maybe from scratch or from a neighbor...

small things will happen and they will be inconsequential if the fish are healthy...

good food and diet and environment will give them a restful home where they can develope the necessary 'anti-body'  or natural resistance

you should be able to tell if your fish are healthy overall, or if they are sickly...

Im thinking your fish are healthy....

Mine ended up being "lymphocystis" I believe. That's what was suggested on here. I did some research on it and it seemed to fit. The male also had some bumps/bruises that were whitish/grey, they healed with no problems.

Hope yours is nothing serious. Does she seems to be eating/acting normal?

How's the wrist?

again.....thanks for fast responses.. 8)

She's fine in all aspects, eating, playing, no changes in appearance or behaviour thankfully,
it's me who's worried, but feeling better after re-reading Amy's thread ; thanks for that amy, most helpful.  :)
BTW all parameters fine too.

The wrist is a nuisance. Thanks for asking, really painful, but apparently I've broken the radius - the thick bone in the lower arm-
due for another x-ray N Y Eve, and a new cast!! whoopee. I am allowed to choose from a host of colours too!!
Only another 7 weeks to go until fully healed, so should have mastered the art of one handedness by then, hopefully
 :-\
Speak soon,
Tania.

Thanks Amy,

Hopefully positive news on the clown........the spot/patch looks to be fading ???

I'm hopeful it isn't some nasty disease now, perhaps the result of a run in with another tank member!!!

Am sat in front of the tank for long periods at the mo', it's fascinating.. 8)

Im wondering...

Do you look at little blemishes on your skin and worry about cancer???

If you look at real life critters in the ocean, you will be amzed at how scarred and marked they are...

I know my clown has a couple marks that she wasnt born with.. not sure where she got them, and if they got worse, i would look for the problem, but for now, to me, it is just normal stuff...

kinda like me being sick right now...  not good, and wish i could fix it, but it is something i will live thru... and be tougher when it is over...

I'm always looking at my own skin, and thinking 'yup, skin like a teenager'....you know,
spotty!!! :D

I see what you mean Bill, and am perhaps rather paranoid about the creatures in my care; always wondering if
I'm doing enough of the right thing for them. I mean, they didn't get the choice as to whether or not they wanted to live with me,
so I really worry about the slightest thing. :-[
Perhaps when/if I gain the experience that you and others on the Ocean have.....maybe a few yrs down the line? I won't worry quite so much about stuff  ???.

She is looking well at the moment though, so not as worried as I was. ;D

Sorry to hear you are still off colour, perhaps you should see your G.P.
Wouldn't do any harm, you may need anti-biotics or the like. The sooner the better perhaps?
Nothing worse than seeing a new year in feeling crappy eh?
Hope you feel better soon,
Tania.

there is nothing wrong with worrying, especially when we dont know...and certainly i dont know what maybe wrong with your fish, if anything is, i was just sayin'

And talkinig and sharin is a great way to find out what is 'common' and what aint...

I too learn more each day, especially the technical stuff from lanny and greg...and others...

I am trying to get to the drs office, but having felt up to driving... I actually hate driving... the neck and back issues prevent me from looking around like i like and i tend to not drive as well as a like, or i am driving under the influence, as i take really strong pain meds...

And also the fact that i really hate doctors.. each time i go, it is something...

I gues that is normal too as folks dont usually go when they feel well, huh???

Anyways, i will do my best to call my doctors office shortly... maybe he can do something over the phone???   although i will have to get to the pharmacist, (3-4 blocks away)

well, i didnt make it to the drs...

I tried eating something after i woke up then got really sick... seems not eating for a few days then trying is not a good idea...

I took some meds and passed out, now it is too late to be seen till next week...

oh well, maybe my daughter will call me this weekend and ask me how i am, not that she will do anything other then to tell me she will pray for me, and no, she isnt religious, and probably couldnt form a prayer if her life depended on it...  it is just something she says to somehow make me or others think she cares...

Hurrah... :D The 'spot' is fading.

Still unsure as to what it actually is/was, but it is hardly noticable now - juvey acne  ??? -

It's sooo weird, I thought it was something hideous, not that she was different in behaviour or anything,
still a complete nutter!! eating like a horse, racing around the tank, usual stuff.

Just hope I haven't spoken too soon    :-\
