question...CUC
« on: January 05, 2010, 08:35:47 PM »
Finally getting around to ordering some snails. Diatom still in bloom, plus I'm majorly lacking in the CUC category. All I have is 2 hermits  :o

Soooo....the place I'm ordering from has cleaner shrimp on sale. I've been wanting one and would pay over double to get it locally. Would there be any harm in adding approx. 12 snails and a cleaner shrimp at the same time? I'd hate to throw things off by adding too much at once.

I'm thinking it would be fine (but really have no idea) would feel better if I got the go ahead from one of you  ;D
Thanks!
Amy

the cleaner shrimp wont help clean the tank... they are for cleaning other fish...  although it might clean up some dead critters that may arise from time to time

Yes..I realize that. Sorry, didn't mean as part of my CUC just wondering if it would be okay to add at the same time as I've been wanting one. Thought it would be a nice addition since as of now I just have 2 clowns. Thought I'd jump on it if I could since the price was the best I've seen around here.

Someone mentioned early on that they are good to have.

I have a fireshrimp, it went in the same time as half a dozen snails, all was fine.  ;D

Mind you, it's the shyest thing in the tank, always hiding behind/in the rock until lights out.

You don't have a lot of rock, if my memory serves, so yours should be watchable. 8)

Good luck whatever you decide.

Tania.

what kind of cleaner shrimp is it?

the skunks will actually perform cleaning (sometimes they can even be a bit TOO insistent in doing so), but a CBS won't clean tankmates in captivity, dunno why, but they don't (they just get big and cranky).
