You'll be fine I'm sure.

Just go with your notes etc., there are sooo many ways, but also, too many cooks.....
Big luck :D

IMHO, the pH shock isn't a good thing, but burned gills from the NH3 spike is the worst of it.

with inverts, it's a bit harder to not acclimate, because they don't take very kindly to abrupt changes.

Well it couldn't have gone better I'm proud to say I have 12 snails and 1 shrimp in the tank!! YAY.
2 XL Nass, 8 ceriths, 2 zebra turbos - they are going to town on the sand/glass.
So far so good...

I know I read somewhere to keep the lights out for 4 hours after acclimating anything but the clowns weren't liking the change in routine  ::) All the new additions were in one end...so I have one side with lights. Hoping it's not a huge deal...

Funny how something so minor can be exciting for one...hehe.

Im thinkin the light maybe more important, but not critical to fish, to help them hide from other fish that maybe territorial...

keep an eye on the shrimp for the next day or so.. feed him some fish bits/peaces

the nass are fun... they will dissapear until they smell food, then they will come out of the sand, and make thier way towards the food...

like zombies...

most shrimp and snails are nocturnal, so they're more at home in the dark, however, remember that these critters have been in a dark box (zero light) for who knows how long, and a sudden blast of bright light can shock them.

hey Amy,
hope all goes well in ur transfer from bag to tank, i tell u it pays to look around at what other members r doing. i keep learning new things almost everyday here. The thing is that different  methods seem to achieve the same goals. At least the members give u options to choose from and all want u to be successful at it. l haven't experienced any negativity from anyone here. i think that so cool.....
BTW,, I'm just anxious to put something live in my tank (other than sand & rock) lol.

one of the reasons you may see different ways of doing the same thing is sometimes related to the type of aquariums kept, or sometimes when a person got into the hobby (it is constantly changing).  the great thing is most of the methods are interchangeable, so you can pick what works for you, and eventually come up with your own twist on things as you gain experience.

for instance, Bill is a reefer, and while i have kept a few softy/LPS reefs, i've never really dabbled in SPS, but as you all know, i know a thing or two about FO and FOWLR, as well as clams and Syngnathids (SH and their relatives).  Lanny brings a for-real marine biologist's take on things, so we all learn and help each other.

i like to think of it as a way to give something back to the hobby, because when i started SW 20 years ago, getting good info SUCKED, and i would have LOVED to have had knowledgeable folks to learn from.

hearing that there are so many different ways is s big thing...

It removes insecurity of you doing it wrong... as there are only a couple really WRONG way of doing things, but so many right or at least OK way of doing things..

knowing that you arent doing something fatal, is a blessing...
