ha...also thought I'd let you all know I couldn't bring myself to grab the shrimp with my hand. I tried...believe me. My husband had a good laugh at me trying. I was so worried I'd hurt the little guy. Whenever I'd get my hand close enough I'd back away  :D
So he was netted....

Here is a picture...not that anyone would be overly excited to see him LOL.

Nice and bright, pleased all went well.

Personally, I don't blame you for not handling it,
I'm very like that too... :-[

Do you find it's a 'busy' creature?, I ask, as at my stockist, the skunks there are always on the move!! ???

yea, i figured as much... hehehehe

try hand feeding the shrimp now that he is in your display tank... you will see that he will hop right onto your hand and scurry up to the food...

after a few times of hand feeding you will find him jumpin onto your hand and he will start manicuring you... grabbin at your cuticles and dead skin...

im guessing that in less then a week, you will be golden, and unafraid of the shrimp...

I dont suggest doing this with a lot of stuff, but for newbie reefers, i think it important to get over some hurdles...  a shrimp is an easy one...

ha...hand feeding with my rubber glove on!  ;D
So what all should I be feeding him? I mentioned above that as of now I feed the tank flakes & mysis shrimp. What's a good meaty food to offer? Any suggestions....

Tania seems to be pretty busy so far....always hopping around checking things out. The clowns are scared of him...hehe. He trys to touch them whenever they swim past....

maybe two layers of gloves???

cmon... i know you can do it... just pinch some food inbetween your fingers, and hold it under the water surface so he can see you...

he will come to you, i promise.. just stay still...

as for food, you can use a pinch of flake, or you can get some frozen food cubes from the lfs... frozen brine, or worms...

you can also feed him some fish bits from the market, so if you are having fish something, then cut some scraps off the bone or flesh and freeze them...

or you can mix your own by buying fish stuff from the market, and food processor and spread on wax paper or something and freeze, then break it into small chunks...

that is a good way to mix in vitamins or garlic, or whatever...

I use shrimp and scallops, or whatever else is on sale...

I toss in some nori, and some carrots, and glucomine stuff that greg said...  and whatever else i have laying around that i won in raffles or got in boxes of junk from folks that left the hobby...

puree till really smooth, and freeze and put into ziploc bags in weekly portions

but. i doubt you will go thru a bunch of food so maybe it is best to buy a small package of frozen cube stuff

the shrimp will be more apt to perch on your bare hand, but you can try it with a glove.  however, you won't get that nice shrimpy manicure...

i cant keep ornamental shirmps due to my flame hawk mistaking them for tasty snacks. I got a skunk cleaner and within 24 hours it was dead, and i got some peps to handle my aiptasia and the same resulted, one was mia within the first 24 hours and the other one managed to live a week or so, havent seen it since.

Well........

Peer pressure got the best of me  ;D I tried to feed him by hand (NO GLOVE...yay me) and he did indeed hop right up to perch on my finger. Pretty cool  8) All I had on hand was flake food which he wasn't too sure about. Picking up some meaty goods today. Thinking I'll go the food processor route. Not sure my LFS would have the cubes...they never seem to have anything  :-\

So there you have it!

ETA - I'm guessing the clowns would eat little bits of fish too??

yea,,,

whooo hooo

hehehe.  i wouldnt reccomend folks to play with thier fish, but i sensed you have a hyper sensitivity to yuky things, and figured it might help in overcoming a LITTLE bit of it...

please do not make a habit of touching things you arent sure of... not that i think you need the reminder, but just sayin

You sensed right  ;)

I am very proud...hehe.
So is it a "no-no" to continue feeding the shrimp in this manner from time to time. I honestly haven't seen him eat yet :-\

HA...don't have to worry about me handling things. It scared the crap out of me when the female clown came over...LOL.
