nope...i'd say you have it right, Mr. Bill...

the "single lens" means there's no dedicated "viewfinder lens" in the front, and the "reflex" is the act of the mirror swinging out of the way so the image gets to the focal plane (e.g, film or sensor).  the bottom line is that you're seeing exactly what the lens/focal plane sees.

DSLR's do have an LCD screen on them, but to really take quality pix, the viewfinder is your friend, as you can see what you're looking at much better.

The corals I got from max. The mushroom was 5 dollars

The 3rd and small one was not there/very visible when I got it, so thats a good sign

He's surviving and open, but not blooming as much as the mushroom

Now, I turned of the powerhead overnight and woke up and saw the mushroom fully open, but when I turned the powerhead on, he scrunched up a little but, but its still open...
The top is where it gets the most sunlight, especially since I have weak lighting but the current seems to strong...

great job on placing/mounting the frag plug with the zoanthids onto your rock... did you glue it or is it just resting there????

if just resting, you might want to make sure your snail dont knock it over, or if it does, to pick it up in the morning... hehehehehe

the baby mushroom is a great sign... whooo hoooo.. they do grow/multiply kinda fast... some folks would say tooooo fast as they can really grow over everything if left onto thier own..., just keep an eye, and groom away / give away as needed

and i would not be surprised if those shroom turn green or have green in them.... most of those larger fuzzy mushroom do, at least the ones i have seen do...

and great score, 'first corals'.... definatly a great way to start, as i am sure you wont be able to do much wrong with them, and you will learn and get excited and all that...

i am hoping that sometime by the end of the year, your folks will look at your aquarium and be all  excited that you did that and all that good stuff...

looks like you have some nice "want to be green" Rhodactis mushrooms there.  Rhodactis is one of my fave 'shrooms.  if you fed them, they will engulf the food item and reopen once the food has been eaten.  they will also grow faster if you feed them.

Yeah, right now, I'm unsure where to place them, their at the top of the LR to get the most light, but the current may be too strong for them. Their placed in the perfect niche right now though...

if they are in the perfect niche then i am guessing you have it right where it needs to be....

i guess my point is to not put the zoanthids near/next to them, cause, although the zoas might not seem to care, or the mshrooms wont mind, what will happen is that the shrooms will grow right over the zos and take away the light, and the zoss will die and be covered...

and there are some corals the will mind and will attack and or wn or lose or kill the shrooms or something

The Zoa did not work out, one day I came home and it shrunk half and inch, you still see its head open some times but it didn't resize back. The Mushroom on the other hand is doing great, when I bought the guy, he had only 2 visible heads, now it has 5. :0012398:

+1 - ive had zoas get turned on the back side of rocks and get completely bleached and shrunken. When the rock was flipped over they eventually coloured back up and were all sorts of happy.

Shrimp died today, after a little researching, I believe its from not enough iodine in the water. Yesterday it was stealing food from the Starfish, today, it was getting eating by him. Not sure what to do now, I might hold of getting new additions till my money builds up again and my puffers are nursed and gone.
Here is a pic of my clown goby though, I got him over a month ago.

It is really unlikely that iodine is your culprit. If you hadn't made a water change in six months or a year, then it could be an issue, but not with any sort of halfway decent maintenance. You don't have anything using iodide heavily.

A much more likely scenario (if you have been dosing iodine in any form) is that the high levels of iodide in the water triggered too many molts in the shrimp and overstressed it.
There is something fishy going on here...

I actually didn't add any iodine. Partly because I read that too much can kill it. What happened was before it used to mold once, every like 3 weeks, then it didn't molt for quite some time, then on Friday, it molted, Saturday, dead. Atleast, I don't have to stand there for 20 minutes each day scaring it away with a chop stick till my star finished digesting its krill, which takes a LOONNNG time.
