there are some carpet anemones that are yellow, (S. haddoni and S. gigantea) but they are of the more difficult nems to keep, they will eat any unwary fish and they get HUGE. The lower maintainence nems like bubble tips (E. quadricolor), Long Tipped (M. doreensis) are usually not found in yellows naturally..

There was a guy dam near giving away a beautiful purple S. haddoni carpet because it had gotten too big for his 180 gallon tank.. Think how big a nem would have to get to out grow an 180 gallon tank..  They get ginormous.

whenever i see a LFS carrying dyed nems or coral, they lose a few notches in my opinion of them.

Carole,

any color you see on photosynthetic inverts is due to the zooxanthellae (symbiotic algae) living in the tissue of the critter.  when these corals/nems/clams bleach, what they've done is expell said zooxanthellae in hopes of making room for "local" zooxanthellae which is more suited to the environment.  your tank needs to be super healthy and mature for the bleached critter even have a chance of to coming around.

i was actually given two yellow dyed nems (BTA's) once to see if i could turn them around.  one eventually died, while the other was able to restock its zooxanthellae and make a full recovery and even split.  i really stepped-up the feeding of these nems, to get them over the hump.

Thanks all! Things are finally starting to colour up a bit now that i have the nitrates down to a reasonable level (20) My blue birdsnest and cali tort are finally getting a little hint of blue back to them, which i'm glad to see.. and my green slimer is finally starting to go green again. Now if my blue and red milli's would go back to being their respective namesake colours  id be a bit more happy. I have still to see any new growth or colour change on that browned out stag on the left side.. only time will tell i guess..

most zoanthids are easy, but you still need to ask whomever you are getting them from...

'where are they from?  how much light do they need?  How mucgh flow do i need?  and where in the tank should they be placed?

if you are asking someone knowledgable, they will ask, about your system and what type of lighting before they answer those questions.

you should ask those questions all the time btw?  for all corals?

typically most zoas will do well and grow like grass all over...

some need less light or less flow or some need to be fed, etc...

my purple deaths turned red and didnt really grow well when placed in 'normal' lighting...

after i plavced them on hte bottom and under a little ledge to block some light, they turned purple and are growing like crazy...
