Hello Joy,

Welcome to the ocean.  :)

I'm a relative newbie, started my tank in July '09.

I have had nothing but great help and advice from the members here, and more often than not, a great laugh too. ;D

Thank you all!!!  I have a 75 gallon tank that I haven't got water in yet!  Well, I did for about an hour and found a leak!  Now I am looking for new rubber seals for the bottom of the tank where the pipes come through.  After that, the water, then build a canopy and lights.  Did I tell you I am brand new to this hobby!!!!!  Any and all information/advice is welcome!

hey,

those seals... are they 'bulkhead' fittings???

are they behind/inside an 'Overflow' or are they just in the bottom of the tank???

how old is that tank and stuff??? and can you post some pics??? hehehehe

feels like twenty questions and i just used up half of them...

if the gaskets are leaking, you might have the B/H too tight, and it's distorting, resulting in a leak.  also sometimes just lossing the nut and wiggling/spinning the BH/gasket, then retightening the BH will fix the problem.

if the BH is a double-threaded one, and you have a fitting screwed into the outside of it, make sure the BH isn't split from overtightening the hose barb or other piece of plumbing screwed into it.  if this is the case, the BH will need replacing (i've popped a few of the cheap ones in my time).

hope it's the former and not the latter...
