actually there are many lfs that have frag tanks, IN THIS AREA...

(actually in OC, which is about 30-45min drive away)

but for many, lfs are few and far between and then they probably never heard of frags...


which is why many of our friends get the idea they can become resellers and sell corals to everyone for $100 for a fingernail clipping sized piece of sps

Obviously this isnt everyone but I know what you mean, Im always looking at what people are selling on my local forum and sometimes Im shocked at how much "friends" are selling coral for.  I know some of the corals are awesome and maybe even be worth what the poeple are asking but it doesnt seem right to me.  I did however meet up with a guy on the forum last weekend who gave me 2 heads of hammerhead coral and some montipora frags and xenia for 5 bucks! (Ill be sure to stay friends with him hehe)  And ive got a frag that once it grows large enough ill give him a piece of it.  If I was in this  hobby to buy coral and sell it well then first id have to do a much better job at keeping it alive lol.  I've read stuff you guys post "hey come grab this" or "hey ill give you this"  not very much of that going on over here...still there are cool people out there, just got to find them.

I will give anyone a piece of anything from my tank. The more people out there growing it, the more likely it is that I can get it back if my tank crashes.

My current issue is that there are very few people out there with the same mindset. I want to get my hands on some of these frags that are selling for $200/booger so that I can grow them out and give them away for free. The problem is, the people who dropped the big bucks on them aren't giving them away, they have the mistaken notion that what they paid for it is the actual value, which is laughable. If I could afford the initial cost of them, I would buy them just to crash the market by giving them away.

Look at Green Slimer or one of these corals that was HOT 5 years ago. Now, everyone has a piece, and they will give it away because the market has dissolved. How sweet would it be if we could do the same with all these "jedi-mind-trick/lakers/sunset/dragon's ejaculate" fancy corals?

I want to get some dendros and grow them out to trade off. I refuse to pay 25-30 bucks a HEAD. And dont even get me started on rhizotrochus typus, love them but other than the questionable import ability of them and the insane price aka lowest price i've even seen advertised by a someone selling was 150..

we have a yellow Dendro that's trying to sprout little polyps.  if it takes off (has a long way to go), and you're still looking, i'll hook you up with a polyp or two.

what i do with most polyps these days is toss them into one of the setups and see how they do, altho in this case, they need to be fed too.  guess i didn't realize peeps are calling them "dragon polyps"...here we go with names again... ::)

-Montipora Confusa
-Blue Milli
-Red Milli
-Tubbs Birdnest
-Some Green Based Blue Tipped Stag
