another one bites the dust
« on: February 18, 2010, 09:21:10 AM »
Well, i got a text this AM from BEN...

Seems he is bent.!!!!!  Apparently his heater broke, and now all his fish are dead...

He is talking about giving up, but i have tried to implore upon him to not make that decision today.. and to give it some time before making that decision..

Ben has been reefing for almost 3 years now, if i recall correctly...He has always been there for me and other reefers... He has been a very frugal reefer, probably one of the original FREEBIE hunters...Im thinking that he and Jake would have gotten along that way... hehehehehe

Im not sure what went wrong and am kinda bummed cause he had an aquacontroller that swhould have sent him warnings and and turned off things to prevent this problem... but not sure if or howhe had it programmed... I have wanted to double check his programming, but he works odd hours, (cop)

I truly hope he doesnt get out.. and hopefully he will be back up shortly...which I will make sure we go thru everything and make sure the AC3 is doing what it is supposed to..

(NOTE TO SELF:  check my ac3 programming and make sure it is programmed correctly)

Well, a little better bit of news.. I sent ben a text after seeing this and it turns out it wasnt his main display tank but it was a HT tank he had setup for some of his fish that were battling ich and not doing too well. Heater failed and cooked the fish. He didnt have the heater hooked up to his controller.

well, thts cool, but totally different then what he texted me and chatted about...

He was pretty bummed and probably busy and not able to text or talk to me at the time...

Im glad it was just his HT.. i didnt even know he had to set one up.. I wonder what was going on with that...

I did ask about teh AC3 issue but again, he seemed a bit 'short' and not really wanting to talk about it.. so, i just implored upon him to not pack it in as he put it...

He is a great guy, and has a great family...

He would be a good fit in this forum, but he doesnt log on until later hours...Im sure that if this forum was a bit busier and the chatroom had more folks in it, he would hang out a bit longer as everytime he logs into the chatroom, no one is there...

anyways, i hope he does well, and he also knows that he will be taken care of if he needs/wants it

thanks jake, btw:

one of the reasons i HATE heaters, and rarely use them unless they're on some other type of controller.  heaters tend to fail in the "on" position, as the contacts become welded together and the unit just keeps heating.

this month has had some bad juju going on...
