Story Time

Good title I know.
I'll share some (you can share too) some of interesting things that go on in the tank.

A few days ago I found my astrea on the side and I flipped him back, he didn't recover but in a few hours, he was up and about. The next day he flipped again and I re-flipped him and he was up and around after a few hours. Today though, this morning he was flipped and I've yet to see him outta that spot. 3 time the killer? He never flipped before and now he can't stop?

Atreas grow where it is rocky, and only where it is rocky. They have no mechanism to right themselves when they fall in sand because it is totally unnatural for them. You will lose a few due to falls.
There is something fishy going on here...

IME with Astreas, i love them, and they're super great CUC members once they become established.  as Lanny mentioned they really can't right themselves, but i find that newer specimens sometimes don't handle shifts in water chemistry from one system to another very well, or they can act this way if the chemistry goes "off" a bit.  when the snails are stressing do to chemistry issues they can do this, even if they're established.

again tho, sometimes they just do an "i've fallen and i can't get up" and need to be righted and will go on about their b'ness.

The little snail died. Do you guys usually let the CUC clean him out or throw out the body?

i'd be surprised if the CUC hasn't already eaten it.  BW's, Nassarius, pep shrimp, pods, etc.  also, if your tank is still cycling, just leave it.
