The Rebuild.....

Added two more coral on Thurs'...a Pussy or Colt coral, it's great. It seems to constantly change shape, (I'll post pic's of it soon) and a Grass Xenia...that hasn't opened yet!!!! the first time we bought one, it didn't open up for about four days after going in to the tank, so fingers crossed that we haven't bought a really expensive lump of rock!!!
Will keep an eye on it.

Strange occurrences too; over the past two nights, we have lost the turbo snails.. they were happily working on the rock when we went to bed... then, at lights on time, just a shell!!! Have also heard <clicking> noises, as if something is hitting the glass!!! imagining all sorts as the new rock could have God knows what lurking on it. We have spotted a few worms, and the crab I mentioned a few days ago, so will be paying close attention after lights out tonight..will let you know what is happening as soon as we know ourselves.

The popping and eaten snails can only mean one thing: mantis shrimp. Or maybe pistol shrimp. Dammit, thats two things...

Check out wetwebmedia on mantis shrimp and how to trap them, and then go get a ten gallon to keep it in a species tank. They are really cool to watch.

Thanks for that, a veerrry interesting site; I'm ploughing my way through the pistol shrimp section...they sound like fun, but as you said, 'in a species tank'. I happen to have a small tank currently doing nothing.....

Thinking the tank is full enough now, just enough room for a 'shrimp trap!! more on that soon....

ok, now that is a plate coral.. the funguia, in the middle / bottom...  nice piece too... that one gets all puffy too... you can drop some pellets or bits of fish onto it and it will work it towards it's mouth... unless other fish pick it off first...

you can place the food stuff into the mouth and watch it dissapear too..

the colt coral is aggressive too.. make sure it dont touch other corals.. cause it will win every time...

but, yea,  excellent aquascape.... your little ocean is looking mighty fine...

Thanks, very pleased with how things are settling now, but still finding aippies!!!

Just destroying them on sight, should keep on top of them that way....hopefully.

yeah, i keep finding little ones here and there. Destroy on sight are the orders.. fortunately none have popped up on the aquascape, just on frags and smaller bits that can be removed..
