Paused The Rebuild!!!!
« on: March 20, 2010, 02:10:41 PM »
Hi,
As you know, I had to practically strip the tank, due to the aiptasia infestation.
That was over a month ago.

Just as I thought it may be safe to add more substrate, rock etc, I noticed a small aippy in the corner!!!

That stuff is soooo hardy, couldn't believe it was still present!

Upon investigation, the small jasmine star I had, was carrying three, so out it came, and the Brain coral had one on its underside; couldn't bear to part with it, so applied Aiptasia-X.

Ah well, waiting again.....poor fish, they are sooo patient.

The yellow Gobi has taken to carrying mouthfuls of gravel to the last mushroom, and showering it with the stuff. It's so funny to watch, it's as if he's trying to hide the thing in case I take that too.  lol :cry1:

chances are like learner said, there were hitchiker on teh star and on teh brain.

it is hard to find them all, when tehy are sooo sall and out of the water they are retracted and  just small little microbe sized,,,kudos for taking the time now to look at them again.... you are one paranoid reefer@@@@

Im guessing now would be a good time to add the 'natural remedy' so they can kinda get ahead,,,

Beginning to believe a little paranoia is better then none at all..lol
Would you believe my supplier still can't provide pep' shrimps? apparently his last shipment (which are few and far between) arrived dead!!!
Anyhow,  I now have only a mushroom and the brain to watch..sad eh? so I will be keeping my beadies on things for a while yet.

All fish still OK, 2 Clowns, 1 Damsel, 1 Yellow Gobi and the Dartfish.
It's six of the eight corals, 20Kg of live rock and the live sand/crushed coral that have had to go.. :cry1:

Talk about luck eh?...lol
I'm thinking of trying to get a pep' shrimp (as common as rocking horse poo here), then leaving things until about June;
seems an age, but as long as water paramaters hold and fish are well, the key word again is 'patience'!! :rolleyes1:

you can 'quote' other peoples' messages by clicking on teh QUOTE button instead of teh reply button.

then you can either enter your message before or after the message you are quoting, or you can get fancy, by typing inside thier quotes....  usually you do this by finding where ytou want to enter your reply/message, then typing the '[' /quote]   command... actually you put the brackett before and after the word quote... no space

then after your comment you type the opposite command which would be '[' quote]

I've read hermit crabs may also work when it comes to dealing with apps.

Thanks everyone,  :kiss1:lol
Bill,
I am no techie, as you have realised..lol, so thanks for the tips on using quotes; I just went with good old 'copy & paste'!!!

Kyle,
If I lived a lot closer, I would walk to you for one of your peps', so thanks for that.

OC,
I have had hermit crabs, they showed no interest whatsoever in the aippies, but they were the laziest crabs ever!!

Amy,
Don't know about patience being a virtue, it's becoming more of an art form for me, but I will wait it out, the cost is enough to scare me off until I either get the pep, or, am doubly sure there are no more aippies in there!!

Salifert just released a new product called Aiptasia eXit, along the lines of their Flatworm eXit. Maybe you could check that out to nip any stragglers in the bud...
There is something fishy going on here...
