i finally have macro algae growth!!

Its the small victories..

In my previous setup macros would just stagnate and die. Never got any good growth out of them. Well, finally with my new tank and the little micro fuge area i have fed off my return in my sump i can say i have two macros that are growing. The cheato has been doing ok for a while but i'm finally seeing some decent growth out of it. The ulva i got from bill via greg is starting to really take off as well. At first bits were just kind of browning out and dying off. Today i went through and stirred things about and i can definitely see the new growth vs the old growth.

Now if i can find some good looking blue and red macros id throw them in the DT and incorporate them into the aquascape. I had some halimeda in the previous tank but my tang discovered it liked it and went to town.

cool Jake...i find that the Ulva is one of our most prolific macros right now.  it's even growing well at 66*F in the bluefin tank.

as for red macro, i might be able to give you a couple of sprigs of Botryocladia (red grape), but i guarantee your tangs will eat it, as will any Turbo snails you may have.  it's a slow-grower, but IME is pretty hardy.  it looks best under subdued lighting, as it tends to "brown out" if the lighting is too bright.

next time Bill comes over, i'll see what i can spare as i don't have that one all over the place.

here's what it looks like when it's doing well (the stuff on the right in the rear):
