i know has issues with DA and her RKE, but I am very sure that if you ahve Jake or someone else over that knows how to program it, that it will go up really easily and Renee will get over her comfort issues...

It will certainly be cheaper anbd easier and probably better then going thru all the issues over with apex... as i am suer both companies and products are similar in every respect...
and although money 'may not' be an issue, Im sure it maybe more of one now that you all own a home...so maybe it is worth a 'second' chance...???

griffin is very cute... he will have ZERO problems getting the girls...  he plays the horn just like his dad too... I saw them at a concert/event at the city center where they live... Im hopin to see him play at one of Greg's gig at the the Big Band club...it would be awesome to see him playing with a 25 piece band...

as for teh move, i know they are having some fun... im guessing they are moving everything into temporary tanks and tubs, as there is just too many tanks and not many new ones... or at least there werent when i was there, two weeks before the move...

I tried to get an understanding of 'their plan', but renee and i are kinda difficult ... sorry renee, i dont mean to be...  but, when i tried to get an understanding of the details of the move and the time frame didnt seem to match, the discussion got a little 'awkward'... and it was apparent that the details were buggin renee, so i just dropped it...

they were and probably are really stressed and i wish i could help, but knowing renee, it will get worst before it gets better, but then once it is done, there wont be any doubt it will be bitchin...

The stand needs to be stained/finished.  We just got some plumbing parts in.  My big issue is that it looks like I'm going to have to build an enclosure to house the sump as the largest "pre-fab" deck boxes I can find are 5 feet, and I was planning on using an old 55 gal acrylic tank as a sump, which leaves pretty much zero room for the return and CL pumps.

I told Renee I could have the tank up and running in a day or two if I put the sump beneath the stand...

what are the other dims on the largest deck boxes they have (other than 5' long)? how bout using a 40 breeder or something similar for your sump? That would give you more room for the CL and Return pumps and knowing you your overflow will be set up so there is minimal drain back

That's one of my thoughts...to use a 3' sump as opposed to a 4' one.  I was just trying to find a use for that old 55 gal since it's been laying around, and is really too scratched to use as a DT anymore (it's about 20 years old...my first SW tank).

I've been using (and liking) Little Giant return pumps, but I've been considering running a Pan World this time around.  What do you think?  Have you run them?  Any other suggestions that you like?

The CL pump is a Reef-flo Dart, and I'll be using a OM 4-way...we've had them laying around for awhile, so I might as well use them.

I've not heard anything bad about the pan world pumps, but can not say from personal experience. IIRC the main engineer from iwaki left them and founded pan world so they tend to be similarly rated pumps. Unlike the iwaki pumps the pan world come with a cord, which isnt a whole lot but its the small things. I think most of the flow and wattage ratings are similar.

Make the 55g your new rock curing bin. Stop arsing round and get a 40B so you can get it up and running. There's a guy on REEFNAZI in the socal forum that has an undrilled glass one for 35 bucks, thats cheaper than you can get it at the petco sales for..
