Happy fourth everyone
« on: July 05, 2010, 08:20:26 PM »
Also just wanted some ideas on what everyone things of about 6 fish in a 36 gal tank? has been together and an established system for a little more than a year. it would be three clowns and three yellow tail damsels. sorry for the appy problems some are having. i dont seem to have trouble with them. there are a few and have stayed that way for about a month so far, kinda waiting on them to flourish cause the lfs usually keeps peps on hand i can get rid of them with. lol

Three clowns is more than likely a no-go in a system that small. Three of the same species that have been separate have probably sexually matured and that will cause problems. A pair of one species and one of another species might get ragged on. Three different species probably don't have room to coexist.

That plus the damsels equals a lot of ragged fins.

damsels and clowns (which are just anemone resistant damsels) are pretty territorial.  In that small of a tank I'm thinking you are asking for trouble. In my 60 i just pulled my tomato pair due to the female being uber aggressive and attacking me and anything that went into the tank. She basically claimed the entire left half of my 48" tank as her territory and terrorized anything that too close to her anemone.

it had two clowns and twodamsels but one clown went floor surfing... (frown) now i watch the damsels pick on the one clown fish and to be honest i want the clown to take over cause he costs a lot more. so what yal think about two and two with increased live rock stacked so that there are all kinds of hiding places?? Thank you for the info i want to add more fish but dont know if i have the room to add what i want. lol. also what eats live brine?? there are way too many inthe ten gallon and the clown nor the crabs are touching them(though didnt expect it from the crabs) i figured that the clown would eat on them as well as the damsels but i dont know of anything that has a diet of mainly brine???

There is nothing with a diet of mainly brine...they are a supremely unnatural food, and aren't worth anything nutrition-wise either. Flush them down the toilet if there are too many.

How did you end up with live brine shrimp in your tank?

My fish love brine! I would think 2 clowns, and one damsel as I've heard damsels would constantly pick on each other unless you have a lot of room and a school. Perhaps a sixline or firefish? Sixlines are beautiful.

i guess from feeding them to the damsels. i got so lucky as to get the picky ones that wont eat frozen food. atleast not for about a month after we got them. i just havent really took the net and fished them out for they are a hell of a clean up crew. lol.
