Uh Oh!!!! A problem?
« on: July 11, 2010, 01:48:03 PM »
Hi all,

Thanks for the lovely comments on the rebuild section of the tank.

There may now be a problem.....

The open brain coral was adopted by the female clown a few weeks ago; she was doing the 'host' thing, then appeared to be taking its food - when it's 'mouth' was opening to feed, she would aggressively try to take the food!!
It developed a pale patch, at the site she was rubbing, and for the past 24 hrs it has closed up.

Hubby re-sited it higher in the tank, and the clown hasn't bothered it since -yet anyways-.

Do you think it has become stressed by all the 'attention' it received?

All suggestions welcome.

Thanks,

Tania.

yea,  it sounds like the clown was a bit aggressive in hosting with the brain... I would keep an eye out and hopefully keep the clown away... You can try dipping the coral into a iodine dip to heal it, if it is really bad...  but with some luck, and lower flow while it is healing, it should be ok...

you miight want to find an anemone as they are much hardier then corals for clownfish hosting
