morning...

I had some computer troubles last nite... couldnt figure out the password for thier network,  and they were in bed already...

they (my friend and his wife), are / have been taking care of thier 18 year old daughter who had major back surgery this week... i mean this week.. she literally got out of the hospital yesterday hours before i got into town...

she is bad... she had 6 vertabrae fused...  (I only have three discs removed),, she had 6

And only 18,, what a shame... she has been healthy and dong stuff all her life, but she has been getting progressively worse, and i guess now was better then later...   but seriously she is some major pain right now... as she is post operative...

my timing is never been great... so sorry for my friends for that...

anyways.. pioctures will be posted later on... but it is effing beautiful.... I was up last nite while my friends were sleeping, taking pictures of a snail that is about 5+"

It's huge... omg... i almost tripped over it.. hehehe

I am staying in a 'back house', dettached house, and was hanging out on the lanai, 'smokin', and this snail was cruisin, so i figured i would take the picture

It's a different taking pictures of things that arent in aquariums... hehehehe

I will post pictures of charlie the cruiser later on...

I will be callin around to some places to live later on, but today, i am going snorkeling and eating...   and trying to stay out of thier way while they rest and take care of thier daughter...

till then...

Glad to read all is well :)

What a shame about their daughters recent operation. That is young to have such troubles.

Looking forward to pictures and your updates!!
Take care Bill....

just got back from driving all over the north shore, and seeing the old stomping grounds...  very little has changed... there are some homes where fields used to be, but still tons of fields and weeds and trees and shrubs...

but i guess for folks that live ehre, they can see the difference more then me...

I see some places have closed and or changed owners or soomething, but that is normal...

some thigns are gone, like the pineapple garden.. it was a cool garden across from dole tourist plantation shop thing, and it had a few dozen different species of pineapple, most of which are not edible, but very pretty.

the garden is gone... apparently someone tripped or got hurt and sued, and dole stated it is one thing to absorb the cost of planting and maintaining it but to make it idiot proof and to man the 20x20 garden for tourist is too much money for something like that so it is gone/plowed under.

there used to be tour bus after tour bus there, and nows nothing... it was a good plcae for tourist and lots of parking in that area, but now, it is just another road and just another empty overgrown field

Sppent the some time at a kaiina point.. it is a dead end road 'kida' around the island but it is dirt so it is only four weheel drive from that point on.. so we jsut hung out at hte beach there,  and

we saw a few manta rays, (we think) splashing around in the water about 20 yards off shore... it looked like maybe sharks but we figured it was just eh finds from manta's...

very cool.. no pics, sorry, too far off shore for my little camera...

Got some other pics thoiug of some mountains and clean air and that tyype of stuff

I will be uploading later on, so maybe by tomorrow your time and all that... sorry...

I havent gone snorkeling yet... tomorrow for sure...

we did go to costco though?  heheheheh    gotta run errands for my friend and thier daughter...  so costco the dmv for handi cap placard, and the hospital for something, then ups store, and all kinds of errands... but it was all good...

its about 4:40 now, so maybe we will eat something later on.. .i turned down the costco hot dog for $1.50. as i just want foods i cant get back home, and i really dont like costco dogs anyways... but my friend loves them... too funny.. he makes BANK, but yet he gets a kick outta the $1.50 hot dog... heheheheheheheh

anyways, talk at you all laters

ok, my friend had family things to do so i was able to borrow his truck and head out.. i went to the beach that i used to live on/accors and swam for about five minutes.. it was around 5:30 ish and a little windy and a little rain in the air, but i was able  to float and get wet... heheheh

I then started taking pictures...  I walked out on to the rcok wall / break water, about 199 yards, and damn near died a few times.. it's harder then i remember... (and my friend john remembers a lot of stories i have forgetten, but thats another thread)

I met some folks out on the break water fishing... and he was an army grunt something and his five year old daughter.. she was a blast... talkin up a storm and running and climbing in and out of the rocks.. climb inone side then climb out the other side..

we were watchin turtles semmng into the bay.. the guy was telling me they come at night for protection... but i saw about twenty of them and tried taking pictures and will gurantee before i look at them that none of them came out.. sorry...

there werer pictures of schools of fish i hope come out, as they were cool as hell. almost like fish frenzy for something... they were schooling and churning up the water.. maybe about a 20x20  area????

there was a guy and s standup board/paddle board thing...  and the fish schooled around him... although im not sure he say or noticed...???

got or tried to get some typical sunset pictures and the typical beach pitures and panorama, so we will see....not that great of a photog, but i took enough so i hope some come out...

anyways, i will upload them later...

Sounds as though the break is going well for you Bill.

Hope your friends daughter is making a good recovery.

With you to help with errands etc, they are able to give their full attention to her needs, so the arrangement seems to suit all of you.

Looking forward to seeing your pic's, the area sounds great.

i fell a sleep in front of the computer last nite... sorry... i guess that quick dip and walk on the lava rocks did a little more to me then i thought and hoped... i am kinda, (andi mean really) sore right now... i am going to take half a pill and hope it dont knock me out or slow me down, and or make me look like i am drugged.....

We had dinner last nite... i brought some lasgna and sourdough french bread and truffle oil and some aged basalmic for dipping...  it was a complete meal and i packed it all in a cooler and cheked it through the luggage... heheheehe

and thier daughter was up and walking and sat down and ate with us...i was absolutey amazed... i could move after my surgery but it was totally assisted... and it was in serious pain... bending or leaning to sit down was damn near impossible... but she did everything on her own.. she would ask for stuff so she didnt have to go up and down and up and down... but she looked like maybe she just kinda slept on it wrong.. or something minor...

i could see about 3" of her srac/staple that was above her tank top, but they say the scar  goes down to about her belly button... so that is about 14"

ouchy

Anyways, i did upload the pics last nite so now i will just start posting hte pics.

although you can see them in my library on photobucket   where all the pics will be.. im going to only post a few of them

First nite i was there pictures...

This is charley... he was in front of my cabin waiting for me...

He is about 4"

The nickel for reference..

Kaiena point.  Its on the north shore and it goes around the island on the far most west side of the island leading to and around to the south side ... But, it is all dirt and serious four wheel drive... and john says extreme four wheel drive... we didnt go there....

 :cry1:

But, the view was still spectacular... we saw some fish in the ocean about 20 yards... fairly close.. and at first we thought it was sharks attacking/frenzy action, but after a few minutes john said it was manta rays, maybe doin' the nasty... heheheheh

and no, there arent any pictures as it was not possible.. i did try though... but all you could see was ocean everywhere...

but oh well there are other pictures...

you can see a truck on the road, but he was just dropping someone off, (there is some great fishing down on the point, so he was headin that way with his fishin gear....

That is looking east back towards haleiwa...

Looking west..

Some dummy trying to go thru kaienna point... he didnt make 100 yds

This is haleiwabeach, the beach/park that was directly in front of my old home...

Looking east.

looking northerly..

to be continued...

welll, my friends wifey was having issues.... My being there was just a bit much... she has been dealing with her daughters surgery and all that for several weeks and i was just not on the plan....  TIMING SUCKS AGAIN.... we spent the day looking for a place for me to stay...

my friend didnt really do much to find places prior to my being there, so it was back to craigslist and thge bulletin board at the markets...

i printed out the info i have collected prior, but had never contacted anyone as my friend said i would be ok at his plcae in the back yard but. his wife started stressing hard... she never said anything and was polite and all that but it was obvious she was not happy...

oh well, time to spend money again...

After two hours and about twenty fone calls and driving back and forth across the north shore I foud a place, but can not move in until sunday... arrrrrggghhh

I didnt want to stay at johns house for fear of negatively affecting them more...  Im sure i could have stayed there until sunday but i didnt want to risk it... i am trying my best to not affect or bother anyone ever again...I appreciate thier hospitatlity, and all that and i truly understand the need to take care of thier family and all that and probably have been pretty upste if I was going thru something like that with my family and had them show up...

I guess my only comment about this is that my friend had a month and a half to figure out where i can go to... He knew his daughter was giong into surgery this weekend and if they didnt want or couldnt accomidat guests or me, whey didnt he look before then...  we were somwhat disorganized and back and forth and  missed cals and scrambling... We went to a place and it was good... i said yes, but they wont have the room empty until the first....

arrrgh

so, as i was drivng back to the store and the phone is still returning the calls i placed earlier, i speak with another person and end up looking at three other places... two of which is not acctable.  maybe i will post the issues with those place on a later date..

But one place was nice... and clean and all that, but wasnt as close or near to the beach....  andio alreayd comitted to the first guy, so t was already done...  but i was getting all kinds of return calls to the hundred or so calls we made this morning...

so, off tot he atm... well sort of... the machine only goes up to $300, so he will havot wait..           for the entire deposit, heheheh

Then on the way back to his house to give him the deposit we met another gujy that knows my friend and had a room available so we looked at that place too... but that place has a story and needless to say, i was done quicly.. of to the fist place we  look at  U

now that room isnt available till the first of august... so, i am now in a backpackers hostel...  who hooo    hows about sharing rooms with strange folks..

oh welll...  its hawaii
