« on: July 14, 2009, 08:47:35 AM »
i thought this would be as good a time as any to start a build thread for the 100 gal since we have it back from John, our acrylics guy (Advance Acrylics).  for reference, he's the same guy who built Bill's frag tank.

the tank:

the pumps:

the chiller

the lighting:

the controller:

Very nice tank! i love the external overflow.
Ever thought of adding a OM four way on there?
Doubt you'll even need that chiller  :)

thanx for the kind words. we actually have a OM 4-way...the tank was originally slated to be a reef, so we have the OM as well as a Reeflo Dart to drive it.  we changed our plans along the way.  we like to run our tanx in the 76*F range, so the chiller helps on those warm days here in So. CA.

this tank will now be home to our volitans and two Rhinopias scorps.

i have never reccomended a check valve, but in your case, I strongly urge you to get one or two on those returns..

Is the chiller on it's own pump?  If so, then i owuld suggest moving the chiller return to the lower bulkheads to minimize the amount of water that can flow back into the sump...  (basically making hte chiller a 'closed loop' and not affecting the water level..)

but other then that, i love the way you used the plumbing and soft tubing... looks very clean...  very professional...

thank Bill...as i mentioned on the phone, the drain hoses aren't installed in the pic, so it appears that the O/F isn't in use.  the drain hoses came today and are now installed.  ready for a wet test!  ;)

It looks great Greg; nice rock layout, your scorps will be made up when they move in, I'm sure.

try a few years.... ::)

then again, the tank was originally going to be a reef, then we kinda changed our minds.

i can't wait to move all of the fish around, and see where we end up.  hopefully, we'll be able to take down a tank or two...
